The Winds of Change at EKY

 

The winds of change are blowing at the Bessemer Airport!  The Bessemer Airport Authority is pleased to invite you to participate in the growth of EKY by reserving your new hangar today.

 

To address demand and the need for additional hangars at the airport, the Bessemer Airport Authority has recently announced a capital construction program that includes the construction of new General Aviation T-Hangars. “The potential for economic development of the airport has been an oft discussed topic but very slow in coming” stated Jim Johnson Vice Chairman of the Airport Authority. These new hangars are the first phase of an evolving strategic development plan for EKY.

 

The Alabama Department of Transportation Aeronautics Bureau is investing in EKY by providing a partial grant to assist with the financing of these new hangars.

 

The final design specifications are nearing completion but there is still the potential to customize your hangar. Currently, the plan is to construct 8 to 10 new enclosed T-Hangars in place of existing open T-Hangars At minimum, these hangars will include 41.5’ wide door openings to accommodate larger Cirrus style aircraft with roof ventilation and low gradient entryways. We anticipate that these hangars will be leased for approximately $300.00 per month. Construction is anticipated to begin later this year.
